(Corallorhiza mertensiana | Pacific coralroot)
A parasitic herb that relies entirely upon fungi within their coral-shaped rhizomes [underground stems, but not roots] for sustenance. Because of this, they cannot be successfully cultivated.
Also (like me), they are leafless and rootless, and neither produce chlorophyll nor perform photosynthesis.
