(Aka Ruiter Stinson Sherman)

(1865-1941) A local naturalist and surveyer who first visited Savary Island in 1892. He eventually built a cabin on Savary where he would summer with his daughter Maud Rees Sherman. He was one of the original developers of Savary Island as a vacation resort in 1910.

Notes
1. In 1931 he published a pamphlet entitled The Ecology of Savary Island, which is the first published attempt to describe the flora, fauna, and geography of the island.

It was hard to find but fortunately Gary Sim had a copy of it, which he let me digitize. Click here to read it.
