Big-leaf Maple
(Aka Acer macrophyllum)

The largest maple in Canada, it can grow as high as 36 metres. Its five-lobed leaves are also the largest of any maple in Canada, measuring up to 30 centimetres across.

2. Coastal aboriginal peoples used its wood to make dishes and pipes.

Some made paddles out of the wood and called it the paddle tree.
