proposition
A set of words that expresses something that is either true or false?

For example, the statement "All humans need to eat food" is true, thus it is a proposition.

However, the statement made by Harold the Vancouverite that "All Vancouverites are always telling lies" is not a proposition because it is a contradiction, thus is neither true nor false.
