Pali canon
A body of writings that includes most of the earliest recorded teachings of the Buddha.

It consists of (1) the Suttas (discourses), (2) the Vinaya (monastic rules), and (3) the Abhidhamma (the codification of the Dhamma).

Notes
1. As they are the writings that are closest in time to when the Buddha acutally lived, they probably contain the most accurate and least mythical information about him.
