The most important Islamic religious text. Muslims believe that it's the word of God as revealed to Muhammad over a period of 23 years.
1. It was first compiled and written down during Uthman's caliphate.
2. It consists of 114 chapters called suras, each of which consists of a variable number of verses called ayahs.
3. It is the first significant work written Arabic. It announces the end of the previously existing Arab oral culture.
