Pullum, Geoffrey

(1945) A British-American linguist who is the professor of General Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. He is a co-author of The Cambridge Grammar of the English Language, a comprehensive descriptive grammar of English.

He is also a regular contributor to Language Log, a collaborative linguistics weblog that is the sworn enemy of prescriptivism. Click here to check it out.
