Definition - (Aka antecedent-contained ellipsis)

A type of verb phrase ellipsis where the ellipsis appears to be contained inside its antecedent.

Note: In the following, the ellipsis is in the [] and the apparent antecedent to the ellipsis is the verb phrase within the {}.

(1) They {said everything that we did} [say].

(2) He is {thinking the same thing I am} [thinking].
