The Dictionary of the Climate Debate (DCD)

Definition: IPCC Third Assessment Report

The third in the continuing series of IPCC reports (for the others, see FAR, SAR, and AR4). It was entitled Climate Change 2001: The Scientific Basis.

Some key results:
(1) The estimate for climate sensitivity is 1.5 to 4.5 °C.
(2) Average surface temperature is projected to increase by anywhere from 1.4°C to 5.8°C by 2100.
(3) Sea level is projected to rise by anywhere from 0.1 metres to 0.9 metres by 2100.

Note that the wide range in projections is based upon several different scenarios that assume different levels of future CO2 emissions
