The Dictionary of the Climate Debate (DCD)

Definition: The epoch that spans 2 million to 12,000 years BP and which includes the most recent period of repeated glaciations. Its end corresponds with the retreat of the last continental glacier.

A short visit to the Pleistocene

1. The name derives from the Greek pleistos, most, and kainos, new.

2. It follows the Pliocene Epoch and is followed by the Holocene Epoch (and perhaps the Anthropocene epoch).
