Bolin, Bert

(1925 – 2007) The Swedish meteorologist who was the first chairman of the IPCC (from 1988 to 1998). He was a professor of meteorology at Stockholm University from 1961 until his retirement in 1990.

He was one of the first meteorologists to take the phenomenon of industrial CO2 emissions seriously. In the 1950s, he and Erik Eriksson predicted that atmospheric CO2 would probably rise 25% by the end of the century.
