Atmospheric Infrared Sounder
Definition: (Aka AIRS)

This is one of the six instruments on NASA's Aqua satellite, which was launched in 2002. It is designed to measure air and surface temperature, water vapor and cloud properties, and trace greenhouse gases such as ozone, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and methane.
