Definition: atmosphere-ocean general circulation model

A climate-simulation program that combines a program that models the Earth's atmosphere with one that models the oceans.

For example, the HadCM3 is the Hadley Centre AOGCM that was one of the major climate models used in the 2001 IPCC TAR.
