A professor of atmospheric science at Berkeley who studied under Jule Charney at MIT, she is also the co-director of the Berkeley Institute of the Environment, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and a fellow in both the American Geophysical Union and the American Meteorological Society, as well as a contributing author to the IPCC Third and Fourth Assessment reports.
She specializes in climate models that track the behaviour of carbon sinks.
